International student Finance update

The September 1 student financial threshold has not yet been published

IRCC says international-student living-expense requirements are adjusted every September 1. The current public table still displays the amount applicable to applications submitted on or after September 1, 2025, while the 2026 transition binder confirms another adjustment will take effect on September 1, 2026. No new figure appeared on the official financial-support page as of this morning.

Why it matters: An application prepared using today's threshold could become insufficient if submitted on or after September 1.

Affected: New study-permit applicants and in-Canada applicants required to demonstrate continuing financial capacity.

Practice implications: Recheck the official table immediately before any September submission. Prepare a financial margin rather than aiming precisely at the current minimum. Show tuition separately from living and transportation expenses, and document accessibility where funds are held in a country with currency-transfer restrictions.
